Gene Expression blog is great.

Do you care to blog on this topic sometime :
http://www.gnxp.com/blog/2006/07/women-in-science-part-3595726061058.php

and just a suggestion...maybe you should switch blog templates ...nothing wrong with this..but just for a change...for a while or something...:)

i've been thinking about switching templates as well, but migrating seems like such a hassle..is your template a blogger one??

Yea Gene Expression is very interesting, chanced upon it by accident..It makes for interesting reading, regarding any of the topics in GNXP ; on some aspects I feel it’s more than how we are wired and depends a lot on external social conditions . On this topic specifically, I’ve seen some pretty nasty women , and also rather caring , home and family loving men.
I’ve read about Ben Barres , I haven’t read the article you suggested though, it’s interesting, however I don’t really consider myself a “woman in science”, but I have seriously considered doctoral education and was probably interested in a more psychological field, does that come under science ?? So I don’t know if I would be qualified to comment, on the other hand , maybe it is reason enough to venture into it. I do know lots of people who are in fact women in “ (proper)sciences” and who would not agree with the article. But yeah it would make for a good post :)

I respect the right of anyone being able to do what they want , or not do what they dont want , regardless of whether they prove a scientifc paper true or false if they do so ... :) ..phew :)

oh btw..GNXP is at times racist and sexist..I linked to it first when i was looking up the DNA Ancestry Project... Have you read the NYT interview with Ben Barres http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/18/science/18conv.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&ei=5087%0A&en=ce91478278da0c4b&ex=1153281600
i agree with him...
