Gaata Rahe Mera Dil

I’ve been listening to this song over and over again ..i find it incredibly sweet and cute and inspiring :

Movie Name: Guide (1965)
Singer: Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar
Music Director: Burman S D
Lyrics: Shailendra
Year: 1965
Producer: Dev Anand
Director: Vijay Anand
Actors: Anwar Husain, Dev Anand, Jagirdar, Kishore Sahu, Rashid Khan, Ulhas, Waheeda Rehman
Theme: Love

Gaata rahe mera dil, tuhi meri manzil
kahin beete na yeh raaten kahin beete na yeh din
Gaata rahe ...

pyaar karne waale, are pyaar hi karenge
jalne waale chaahe jal jal marenge

pyaar karne waale, are pyaar hi karenge
jalne waale chaahe jal jal marenge
dil se jo dhadke hai woh, dil hardam yeh kahenge
kahin beete na ..

o mere hamrahi, meri baahon thame chalna
badle duniya saari tum na badalna

pyaar humne yeh sikhaladega, gardhish men sambhalna
kahin beete na ...

dooriyan ab kaisi, are shaam jaa rahi hai
humko dalthe dalthe samaja rahi hai
aati jaati saans jaane, kab se gaa rahi hai,
kahin beete na ...

Having said that ..lately ( like since this past weekend)..I’ve been thinking I’ve over romanticized everything, that arranged marriages aren’t all that bad ,and involve a deep form of love as well……....

................ The love you have for your parents …………………

The movie GUIDE is still considered among the top 10 ( with sholay, mughal e azam, mother india, pyasa, kagaz ke phool and others ) of indian cinema.

songs, cast, direction was great even if the ending was a little weird for which the writer ( r k narayan ) was kinda pissed off.

You must listen to "tere mere sapne" or watch it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a6OBwA_88A

Or "Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamana Hai"

Piya tose here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3koQIDoNGMU
this song has one of the best dance sequences - 6 antaras on 6 different sets - waheeda at her best - a 9 minute song

There is another song mujhse chal kiye jaye, saiyaan baiymaan - is great again.

A sad song - din dal jaaye one of rafi's best

and finally s d burman's own voice - wahaan kaun hai tera musafir is one of his best !!

So what you really did was to scratch the tip of the iceberf - i left aside all work to post this commnet - watch those videos if you havent !!!! :D

Thanks Sharath for the detailed comment, for the links and for your time :)

I haven't watched the movie.. though it was a favorite with my parents and their friends, I’ve heard Wahan Kaun He Tera and Tere Mere Sapne a few times .. and Aaj Phir's video is for some reason forever etched in my memory :)

I've read about the differences between Dev Anand and RK Narayan in Mr. Narayan's memoirs... it totally put him( RK Narayan) off Bollywood :D!!There was stuff incorporated in the movie that wasn’t in the book.. having said that; our copy of the novel is at home( bought primarily by my parents because of the movie I imagine) ..remains unread by me, (though I have tried) I imagine my mother and others would have read it ... personally ‘The Bachelor of Arts ’ is the only RKN book I’ve read completely , it's a good book!!! I’ve read /watched Malgudi days in bits and pieces...... The Postman and those related to Swami are short stories I remember from my school days ….
